Civita: An Exhibition to Promote the Beauty of Tuscia

6 Sep 2024 - 2 Feb 2025

The territory with all its emotions and suggestions is told in an exhibition titled The Eyes of the Mind, in the heart of Civita di Bagnoregio. At the Exhibition Space Palazzo Alemanni, from September 6, 2024, to February 2, 2025, the project by Maurizio Di Giovancarlo and Roberto Colonnelli arrives.

Di Giovancarlo contributed with photographs, while Colonnelli with words. The result is a slow journey that tells the story of Tuscia: from nature to landscapes, from the work of the inhabitants to the mists, from the countryside to the churches, passing through the signs of past civilizations, and the animals that accompany and assist man.

This journey unfolds through the immediacy of the photos and the rhythmic slowness of the words. The project was realized in collaboration with Casa Civita and thanks to the support of the Municipality of Bagnoregio. The Eyes of the Mind is a complex and articulated work that the authors themselves describe as follows:

'An impassioned tribute to Tuscia, the cradle of our inspiration. Through a unique combination of poetry and images, this artistic work exalts the intrinsic beauty, cultural richness, and vivid nature of this land. The poems, intricate and thoughtful, navigate through the essence of human existence, weaving a dialogue between the soul of nature and the flow of emotions, while philosophically exploring universal concepts such as life, love, and the passage of time.

With its deeply metaphorical language and images that capture the essence of Tuscia, the work aspires to awaken a sense of deep reflection and wondrous amazement, inviting the audience to an inner journey of emotional and intellectual discovery, with Tuscia as the muse.'

'Thanks to this exhibition, Civita becomes a place of promotion for Viterbo's territory. We indeed want to support the tourism growth of the area by giving visibility to its beauties through the significant tourist flows that already come to Bagnoregio. This is because we are convinced that everything will work better, and we can speak of true tourism development only if we manage to win the challenge of increasing the length of stay, and to do so, the entire provincial territory must be promoted.' These are the words of Bagnoregio's mayor, Luca Profili.

'As Casa Civita,' declares Francesco Bigiotti, administrator of Casa Civita, 'we have enthusiastically collaborated to develop the idea and work of Di Giovancarlo and Colonnelli. Building tourism development on a large area remains our guiding star, and day by day, we are carrying out this ambitious project. The hope is that these photos and poems will arouse curiosity and lead tourists to discover other places in Tuscia, perhaps convincing them to stay one more night with us.'"
