On Monday 8 April he will be the guest of honor at the study day organized by La Sapienza University and the Municipality of Bagnoregio to remember Astra Zarina, so closely linked to the Bagnorese area and in particular to Civita.

Astra Zarina, renowned architect and teacher of Steven Holl himself, was professor emerita at the University of Washington in the College of Architecture and Urbanism (CAUP), founder of the UW Italian Studies program (Program of Studies in Italy) and of the Rome Center ( Center of Studies in Rome) in Italy, both part of the University of Washington.

Professor Zarina has taught Architecture and Urban Planning at the University of Washington, both in Seattle and in Italy, for over thirty years. It was she who established the Architecture in Rome course and the Italian Hilltown course. Hundreds of students have studied these programs, created by Professor Zarina in order to expose young architects and designers to the lesson of continuity and change in Italian architecture, urban planning, design and culture. Throughout her career, Zarina has influenced thousands of students and has been a source of inspiration for many professionals who have themselves become architects and designers of international fame and influence.

At the end of the 1960s, together with her husband Tony Costa Heywood, she collaborated on the restoration of numerous buildings in Civita di Bagnoregio. These buildings became the center for the University of Washington's Etruscan Hill Cities of Tuscia Studies Program. The purchase and restoration of these buildings was completed in 2007. In 2006 Zarina and Heywood collaborated with NIAUSI to have Civita di Bagnoregio included in the World Fund's “100 Most Endangered Places” list. for Monuments.

At 2.15 pm the 'Astra Zarina and Civita' seminar will take place at Palazzo Alemanni. The naming ceremony of the teaching room of Palazzo Alemanni to Astra Zarina will be held at 5pm.
